Walmart in Yankton pays $18.50 an hour. Looking at that job description i doubt they have many applications for $20 an hour!

Sure you’re not gonna get rich, but at least you’d get paid to trap, snare, call, work outside, pretty much make your own schedule, love your job, bring your dogs to work every morning, see some cool nature stuff etc... or you could go work at Walmart in Yankton.

Most of the old timers we admire for the life they lived sure weren't doing it for the $

I don't think most people have any idea what this job entails. This is not hobby trapping. It is serious work and ranchers and others expect results and expect them quickly. The miles and hours you put on are incredible. The skill and perseverance needed to do this job is worth way more than $20 an hour. I have great admiration for all the ADC men in SD. I put Walmart on for comparison. The job description for them is probably only 3 sentences.

Any younger guy who loves to trap and is good at it would jump on that job.
I did a job like that for many years-everything was provided.Including benefits and pension.

Seeing as how there's no bounty, and the price if fur where its at,I don't believe that's going to be an issue

Hey you be careful now. Last time there was a trapping job posted that topped at 50k and i commented the pay is crap for how hard you have to work and stuck up for every state employee in this state, the kristi cult came out of the woodwork defending her saying how “its a fair wage”. SD workers have been conditioned to expect terrible pay and be ok with it. We can dump over a million a year into a bounty program but God forbid we pay a damage guy hardly more than 40k starting to eradicate actual problem animals costing guys money.

Spending a few days at Coyote Days would be beneficial.

This is exactly why we started a scholarship last year (which we will begin taking applications for soon) My (our) goal is to get someone up to speed with coyote predator control by they time that person gets a degree, that they are well aware of what is expected of them in a western state's predator program.

As for the job, I'm sure there are better paying jobs out there, but few will more rewarding. It's a good lifestyle!
