Born free USA has a new video out on the YouTube channel, some investigator of theirs pretended to be a novice trapper and went out with three different trappers in Iowa and filmed what went on undercover, and the footage is now being used as their latest anti trapping propaganda. Also attended the convention there, and participated in a trappers Ed course. Be careful who you take out on your trapline, they.might be an undercover anti. I can link the video if we want, but don't wanna violate the rules of the site. Maybe someone will recognize the people or vehicles in the video.

Definitely trappers. It's undercover type footage, a lotta dispatch.

Not too bright letting a complete stranger tag along and film everything.

I don't know that I would bash the guys that took the fake trappers. We are supposed to grow the numbers of trappers, right? They just got lied to and some selective video clips made a dramatic story.

I do agree on the filming. I would tell anyone--no video.

Just a heads up on this subject, first don't blame the people that are willing to take an individual out trapping, this could of happened to any trapper that is willing to help teach the next generation.

Also, let's not go sharing and spreading this around, I wouldn't not share the video or watch it, the more views it gets, the more youtube promotes it as "videos recommended for you" for anybody watching any animal videos.

Is it any different from the stupid stuff some so called "trappers" themselves put on utube?

I know these trappers. The videoing wasn't done openly this person had a covert camera. This could have happened to anyone trying to help a beginner.
If you would like to criticize these trappers then you should probably also be critical of the info he was given by random people at the NTA convention that hes linking audio of. He got them talking about dispatch etc.

I would be talking to the beginner trappers and maybe an attorney.

Have you seen the film Trapper Jake? Great film highly recommend. He makes no bones and gives nf’s and dispatches a coyote with a trap stake. No it shouldn’t be glorified or focused on but don’t run and hide either. The film is available to anyone on Netflix or some such.
