I am looking at buying some dog proof traps and am leaning towards the FB1 traps . Does anyone have any comments for or against.
Thanks Terry Howard

I like em. I get them to fire on a hair trigger, which requires some tinkering.

Though if you don't like tinkering with traps, you might want to look at the FB2

I’ve got a couple dozen of the fb1s, after catches it seems like something always has to be tinkered with on it. I’ve had the bait gone out of plenty an the reason is the trigger moves but won’t fire. I understand I can fix it but I like a trap that will fire after I set it. I got some for sale if you’re interested

All I’ve ever used was the Dukes. Pain in the butt to set without setters, but the trigger can be set for hair if you want and I’ve never had a pullout or a miss that I know of. Even caught rats when using corn as bait.

No problems with the z-traps...might have to strip a but of the coating off the dog if they wont stay set.

I’ve used the Z traps for several years. Wash em off and put em away till next year. Very low maintenance.

95% of my trapping is with dog proofs. Z- trap is what I use.

Not sure. I didn't realize he had passed.

Terry, the FB1's are good traps. If you're looking for a complete DP system freedom brand did a good job creating it with they're brackets and drags. You can about use it in any situation. Very fast system.

You can use the same versatility with the z traps. All it takes is a 3/8 drill bit. Trees, barn floors, culverts, dead wood, fense posts. That is what I like best about them. The stabilzer

Never used the FB1. But like my z traps and coon daggers, have a few dukes that have held up as well but haven't invested much into them

I have used Fb1's and I like them. The main reason i found that they werent firing properly is that the mechanism for the push pull trigger gets gummed up with bait and lure. In the DP world it is a fairly complex device to allow push and pull trigger action. It can gett clogged up and needs cleaned out. If left to rust a lot they will also not work well. A quick swipe with a file to clean the mech. up they work great. Clean them and check for good movement in the mech and they shoudl be good to go,.

Terry I am not answering for Sniper but Clints video of modifying and tuning worked great for me. I had bought them and was struggling with them back in the day when they came out untili watched that video. It helped me a lot.
