I raise Narragansett turkeys and every spring I have to lock the hens up because they try to run off with the wild toms. I had to chase one back home last week so they've been locked up since. They're not happy and making quite a fuss about it. These seven jakes came in to their calls today. Between these guys and mine, there was a lot of gobbling on. My group would gobble and then the others would sound off, and back to mine again. No fighting yet this year, but they get after each other sometimes. I know most of you guys appreciate nature and wildlife, so I thought you might like the pictures. I do a little bit of photography just as a hobby in the warmer months. Mostly nature/wildlife related, birds, bugs, whatever I come across. I can share more in the coming months if that's something you would like to see. Here are some pictures of the jakes from today.

Yes, post more pictures in the future. We all enjoyed Jonathon's and he's not with us anymore, so we need a new resident nature photographer.

Keep the wild birds away as much as you can until this bird flu thing passes. The snows passed through here last week they look to be gone now but the smaller birds are impossible to keep track of. Cool pics nice lookin birds.

Sounds like you need a turkey hunter to make the wild birds a little more wild lol

How can a bird seem so incredibly stupid one day and make a fool out of a human the next? I will not let myself believe there is such a thing as a smart turkey, just some with better senses than others and some may be naturally spookier. They sure are fun to chase tho.

Great pics Kayleigh, love hearing and seeing those birds. Reminds me of the pics Jonathan use to post on the site.

The bird flu was just reported in the county next to me. A little worrisome, because there is a large flock of geese that sometimes hang out in the corn field behind my house. All I can do is run them off and hope for the best.
