I dont shop much but went grocery shopping sometime back with my bride. I could not get my head around the price increases. I mean I knew it was happening but not how bad. I made a post here about grocery prices. So to alleve some of my frustration I sent an email to the presidents email address. This is the response I got. I have no clue who actually writes this stuff but it is I am sure an accurate reflection of Big D's perceptions.

Dear Mr. Clifton, Thank you for writing about the cost of living for American families. I want you to know that I hear you. My top economic priority is ensuring that we do everything we can to ease price pressures.
Right now, America is experiencing the strongest economic recovery in the world. Even after accounting for inflation, our economy is growing, and families have more money in their pockets than before the pandemic. Wages are up, unemployment is down, and more people are starting small businesses than ever before—leading to record job growth. Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, we have delivered tax cuts for families and cut child poverty by 40 percent. There’s a lot we can be proud of and a lot we can build on for the future.
But we still need to ease the burden on working families by making everyday goods more affordable and accessible. I’m doing everything I can to reduce the price of things like gas, food, and other essentials like childcare, prescription drugs, and health care that affect the standard of living of families and provide families a little extra breathing room and peace of mind.
My Build Back Better plan cuts child care spending in half for most families, helping millions of parents—especially women—get back to work. It caps the cost of prescription drugs so insulin that can cost up to $1,000 a month would cost only $35 a month. And it helps those in the sandwich generation who are trying to care for young kids and elderly parents at the same time. We can do these things without increasing the deficit.
Additionally, my Administration brought together labor and business so our economy can reduce bottlenecks at our ports and stock shelves at your grocery store. And we will continue to monitor retail inventories closely, work with the private sector, and reduce congestion until critical goods like gas, food, and medical supplies are moving across the country as fast as possible.
I will continue working as hard as I can to make sure we make the everyday things in our lives more accessible and affordable.
Sincerely, Joe Biden
I really like this. Shouldnt we be trying to get back to the place where wives only work if they choose to? Not work outside the home because they HAVE to?????

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)
Well I'll throw cold water on the wives not working. Have people quit thinking they need a fancy house, new vehicles for both and God forbid the kid drives a clunker for a vehicle when they turn 16, quit buying all the toys like UTVs, boats, etc. Quit taking nice vacations 2 or 3 times a year. Quit going out to eat 4 times a week. You get the picture???? If these people would quit living above their means just because they want, want, want it would help. There's a big problem with wants vs needs that needs to be addressed but I guarantee it won't change. People also shouldn't have kids they can't afford and then look to the government for help and enormous tax credits to have the taxpayers raise them.
I grew up in the 70's and 80's. We never had a new car or a fancy house or luxury items. I had never been on vacation until I was out on my own for several years. My Dad never took a vacation period. He just took the extra check and kept working. Times are not like that anymore. Face reality, they never will be either.
Them idiots need to get out into the real world. Some of us never stopped working and our wages sure as heck are not going up same or even close to the price of goods. As for those jobs that are starting up, they are just the jobs that got axed by the shutdown. May look good on paper for their job building, but it is smoke and mirrors. Dang it Danny, you done got my blood pressure up this AM.

That is an outright lie. The cost still has to be paid. Just because the fed gov't pays part of it doesn't mean the cost is reduced. The money from the fed gov't comes from taxing the general population, minus the 40% the fed gov't consumes in the process of collection and redistribution. That alone makes the cost of child care higher. Then there is the fact that BBB requires child care workers make the same as the minimum teacher wage, tying child care workers into the teacher unions and their wage negociations. That also will increase the cost of child care. Then there is the consideration that part of the burden of paying for child care is being transferred to those without children and to those who have already paid for child care, clearly making this an unfair proposal.
Rewarding irresponsible behavior means you get more irresponsible behavior.
Do tax paying working democrats really believe that:

You would think statements like that would raise their blood pressure too.
I know there are some hard core union guys on here. Do you believe the "strongest recovery" line?
I have been union since I entered the work force and I have voted for a Democrat ONCE. He was the local guy that disturbing the funds to fix our roads . My gravel road got chip and sealed shortly after.;) now it's paved passed the houses still have gravel after that but dust I'm the house and yard is less.
I swear, one day I am going to DC and put some windows in the oval office, so sniffy and his flock of wayward clowns can see whats going on out there in the real world.
Let's go Brandon
"Shall not comply" with morons who don't understand "shall not infringe."
Sleepy Joe has no concept of what reality really is regarding anything. But, its not just him alone. There are many in Congress who have spent nearly their entire lives "serving the people". They continue to suckle from the government udder, while trying to make the rest of us believe they feel our pain and are working hard to help us out of the position and problems they put us in.
I'm glad to read that Danny took the time to write and express his concerns. I've done it many times myself. You know a staff member sent the canned response, because if it had really came for Joe, it would have been written crayon.

We've been eating more chicken than normal (much to Pete's chagrin) , and much less beef. The beef prices are astronomical around here. Small grocery store is advertising fatty 73/27 hamburger for $2.87 and that's the cheapest I've seen it in a long time. When Trump was president I could buy 80/20 for $1.99/lb any day of the week. The toughest cuts of beef start at around $6/lb now... ribeyes run $15-18/lb for select. It's insane. It's actually cheaper now to buy seafood like shrimp and lobster than it is to buy beef and I've never seen that in my life.
On top of the meat prices, we shortly will be experiencing huge price hikes in anything made from flour (flour, bread, pasta, cereal, etc.) It's getting to the point it's stressing me out a bit.
I've been stocking up a bit more than normal. I bought 10lbs of pasta last week. I ordered 36lbs of wheat berries. I have about 20lbs of flour. This week I'm buying 20lbs of rice. I'd like to get some more pasta if I can find it on sale again.
