Yogi and Boo-Boo came through this morning. They decimated one bee hive and a quail pen. All 30 quail either MIA or bear poop. Eight surviving hives. For how long? Probably not very.

We'll see if the DNR gives a bear crap.

If I didn't get a picture, I would have blamed Sasquatch.

Too late for Bang.

The city and DNR are on to me.

Not only that, but I now have hundreds of neighbors within a half mile of me. I'd never get away with it.

Maple Grove. Twenty miles northwest of Minneapolis. With all the new development, I am almost being swallowed up by the Metro.

Bears AND gang bangers; I get the best of both worlds

Sorry to hear. Last warm spell my bees were out. 18°F this morning and there all boxed up.
We rarely get a bear around here so I'm lucky.
Had a friend in PA that said the bears just knocked down his electric fence around his hives and got two destroyed

I was wondering if they were out yet. Been checking my old bait piles from this last winter expecting them to get new visitors this spring but nothing yet.

20 miles from Minnyyappolis sounds like time to sell out and relocate. Should be good market now.

That is what I was thinking. Zap them good.

Here in Pa, I have hives in three counties. I have electric fences ( use barbed wire ) on all my beeyards. I won’t leave a hive sit out a night without being fenced. It’s not if it will be visited by a bear, just when.

You can’t shoot a bear to protect your property, self, or livestock?

A bear to protect myself or other. Not a sow and cub to protect personal property.

I don't know, yet where the DNR stands on this. They must think I'm Joe Biden, and won't return my calls.

I just talked to a friend who runs bees for a living. He says to run at least 5 wires and fry them to a crisp.

The quail are mine, the hives belong to a "renter'. I warned him about bears last fall when I spotted what I suspect to be the same sow and cub.

Will i put up fencing for a couple gallons of honey a year? No!

Will he put up fencing on someone else's property? Probably not.

yes, and yes. I have been contacting some developers over the past year. It's not quite as simple as selling a residential property, though. It is usually a 1-5 year endeavor.
