I've shopped at Sportsman's for a long time, really liked them. However, today they lost me as a customer.

Back in early February I bought a large old fashioned, enameled coffee kettle at Sportsman's, it sprung a leak about two weeks go. It still even has the Sportsman's price sticker on the top ($45.99).
I called the local Sportsman's store where I bought it and asked them if they'd replace it, the woman said that although it had been over their 30 days Store warranty time period, to bring it in, they'd look at it and if it was defective they would replace it.

So I drive into Sportsman's today, the woman at customer disservice says; "I don't know who you talked to, but since it's been over 30 days there is nothing we can do about it, but you can mail it back to the manufacturer". So I says; "You mean in China", she says "probably". I said "you got to be kidding", of course that comment was just met with a blank stare.

Do these store train these people to treat customers this way? I really like to support brick and mortar stores, but this kind of service makes Amazon look better every day.

If that enamelware is made in China I sure would not be drinking from it. That enamel probably contains lead.

Amazon is pretty amazing. The lady ordered something a few months ago and it was on the front doorstep in 30 minutes. There is a Prime warehouse 3 miles down the road. I order coffee pods and get them the same day.
Trying to call anybody anymore and talking to a live person has me ready to move to Wyoming and live in a cave. If you can get someone on the phone they can't speak English. I feel the frustration. (Oh, a Keurig coffee pot doesn't leak.) laugh

I'm sure all that junk is made of substandard material. But then I survived this long with at least half a brain after chewing on lead painted window sills in the late 50's and early 60's. It sort of odd, but I still remember the flavour.

What you do is go buy another one, and return the bad one with the new receipt!

I would immediately ask to speak to her supervisor and explain what she just said. She needs to be reprimanded. I won't let one idiot employee stop me from shopping at a store I like. They just need to clean up their bad employees.

Sportsman’s Warehouse is the reason the brick and mortar stores are almost gone here! I’ll pay more to avoid the box stores unless no one has it then Amazon it is!

I didn't know Sportsman's warehouse was a brick and mortar store. Been getting mail order catalogs for years. Never seen a store.

Leaks and did not so till way after their said warranty period Hmm
So you feel you can change the period to when you wish it, lol
Then get upset cause they telling you no way !

Lesson here is always get names that tell you something you know is
Going to be challenged by another !!

By the way look where the things are made before buying them any more!

I don't like Jeff Bezos politics and I don't like supporting China unless the need is great and the options limited. Haven't purchased from Amazon in years even if they do offer free shipping.

The 30 days is a store return policy. It is not a warranty, that is why that said to contact the manufacturer.

When younger with kids we'd go camping in the mountains in Wyoming. I'd buy the inflatable air mattresses at Walmart and of course they were always flat by morning. At the end of vacation I'd take them back. They leaked.

I am wondering how long some place should warrantee something with a 30 day warrantee. If it was a year should they cover it? I guess if it has a 30 day and it is 31 days, its past. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe it should be extended as long as you want.

They should cover it imo. I have a perculator and a pot that are 50 or so years old. Surely this one should have made it longer than a couple months.
