I don't like Jeff Bezos politics and I don't like supporting China unless the need is great and the options limited. Haven't purchased from Amazon in years even if they do offer free shipping.

What you do is go buy another one, and return the bad one with the new receipt! And they replace it leaving you with two crappy pots that you paid for

So they “lost” you as a customer because a worker wouldn’t risk her job and take back an item that was no longer within the return window? They have to draw a line somewhere. I can’t imagine the ego it takes to expect someone to risk their job for a coffee pot. You're missing the point. Or maybe you didn't comprehend what I said in my original post.

But they have rules they have to follow, that they don’t make. Is it fair to expect them to risk their jobs for you?

^^^^^^^^^ You apparently missed that part were they told me to bring it in and if it was infact defective they would replace it. Retailers always have the option to bend their policies; that's what they told me they would do.

Why are you buying chinese junk in the first place. Buy good English enamel-will last your lifetime and then some.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I always hit the second hand stores down south at Christmas. It’s not unusual to have my socks and underwear packed inside a cast iron frying pan or a nice old pot in my checked baggage.

The next crappy hurdle in life is just around the corner. How we decide to get over it and move on with our lives (or not) is totally up to us.
