To look after you when you no longer can? You got something worked out or are just winging it like most of us?

Told the wife and kids that before they put me in a home -- make sure I get one last hunting trip in.

I wont depend on anyone else to look after me.
My kids already told me they will ship me off to the old age penetentiary as soon as I cant look after myself anymore.
They will have to come and drag me out of the bush kicking screaming and most likely shooting..

My wife and I were regularly visiting an older friend of ours in a memory care facility a couple of years ago. All the other oldsters would try to get in on the visiting action in the common area. It was really heartbreaking to see how lonely these folks were. Even with some dementia going on many were not all that daffy. (Probably better off then some of the regulars on this site). One old guy was telling me about being a football star at the University of Oregon and when I looked him up on google he had scored the winning touchdown in the 1956 Rosebowl! Completely abandoned by his family now.

Anyway, as I digress...I don't want to be in an old folks home, ever. My last hunting trip is one where I probably say goodbye before I head out.

I hope I got enough sand to get to one of my favorite spots that me and my dog had such a good time, and one of those lions I missed will take care of me!

Upside is like many folks I know both younger and older You won't know if your being cared for or not Personally as clumsy as i'm getting it won't be where or when it'll be whether I chose to get up or not

I have an extended care policy I took out a couple years back to help with the golden year diaper days ahead. In the event I survive long enough to use the policy it will handle a large portion of an elder care facility cost. It should carry me most likely to my death in a rest home if I for some reason survive that long. I hope I just drop dead on the line or in my shop. If I die in my shop it will be hard to determine how long I have been dead due to the odor in there.

Bob, you need your Wildlife dept to put one of those radio telemetry tracking collars on you and if it stops moving for too long they come looking for ya!

I often wondered who would look after me. I guess I recently found out, since I got out of the hospital my wife has looked after me 24/7 , she is doing an excellent job as my road to recovery continues. Without her I would be up the creek.

I dont believe any one of us really knows. Many say this and that, but the truth is that we have no idea when,how or where a frailty,heart attack,stroke or many other things can hit and incapacitate us. Much is out of our control. I believe the only ones who really control our end of this existance are those living away from humanity way way back. I have an old friend who was an army captain and extreme alcoholic who got hit by 2 kids drag racing. Shattered his leg and had surgery now living in rest home and loving every bit of it. His son is career air force,daughter a nurse and they had him put there by courts as he was a danger to himself with the alcoholism. Its not all up to us. I can only hope I get my son raised up before I cash out. Ill fight tooth and nail to the end as he deserves it.
