The national Audubon society estimates that wind turbines kill around a million birds a year. Many of these are endangered and threatened species.

Avian flu might say hold my beer on killing eagles most follow the geese here and a lot of geese are dying then the eagles eat the geese. Reports of hawks, geese and starlings found dead so far have not heard of any eagles yet.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

In NYS trains kill a lot of eagles, but you never hear about that.

Table 3. Causes of injury or death for eagles recovered in New York State 2007-2013
Cause (% Total Recoveries)
Collisions (38%)
Vehicle (20%) 46
Train (14%) 32
Other (4%) 10
Plane <1%) 2

I know they're the national bird and all but we could do with a few less of them...... Just ask some of he sheep ranchers out west......

They're gonna turn into a canadian goose kinda thing.

Somewhat off topic but I like seeing eagles as much as any bird and I don't see a need to kill them but I don't own chickens or other prey animals so I don't really have a dog in the fight. If an animal is doing damage and isn't critically endangered locally then the cheapest option is to kill it and move on. As far as the original post I think the government giving fines for things happening the were known to happen after they gave out the permits to build is just another way to steal money legally. The article isn't clear but it seems the company got fined for 3 dead birds not reported but not the 100+ other birds killed and I wonder who or what is on probation for 5 years will the government start shutting down wind farms to just pay for others to open?

If you are happy seeing lots of eagles and hawks you must be content with not seeing squirrels, rabbits, quail and muskrats. That being said windmills have been installed all around my house and on the properties I deer hunt and trap and I absolutely hate them. I would love to see every one of struck by lightning and burned to the ground and the remains carried to the landowners house and dumped in thier front yard.

I am all for a stable ecosystem. I do like seeing eagles and hawks but I don't believe they need the protections they currently have. (I thought I'd made that clear) To say it another way I believe people need the ability to keep animal numbers in check. I don't like killing predators just cause they eat what I target. I like seeing wolves, bears and eagles as well as squirrels, muskrats, butterflies, wild flowers. Some critters and plants need help and some need thinning. The fact that federal protection dosen't take into account the numbers locally is frustrating and needs to be revamped. If you need to kill an eagle to protect your livelihood then you should be able to, I don't need to right now so I won't. That's all I was saying.

It's great because it will be another example of the left fighting themselves. The green energy climate change vs. Tree hugers. Just like we are starting to see with the pro women cand do anything vs. Trans lgbtqxyz group in woman's sports. Ot the defend the police and let the cities burn to now add police funding..

They will implod eventually

There are places in Wy that they are like gulls, during winter, there are places in Ks that they are thick like that. I hate the suckers, but I've had a lot of fox, coyotes and cats ate out of snares. Didn't use to feel that way, but that was before they got thick. I hate wind farms too, but at least they are helping with the surplus of eagles! Prolly get lots of hate mail, but that's the view from here!
