And the "Noble Red Man" myth takes in the wazoo again.

Seems that would indicate there are enough walleyes for the Oneidas to spear a few, as long as they are Oneidas , and they are not selling them.

The Oneida Lake Walleye population is doing well because of the yearly stocking program,,paid for by MY tax dollars.Theres a reason that Walleye season is closed during the spawning weeks.A few years of letting the Indians spear truck loads of spawning Walleyes,,and you can kiss that nice Walleye lake goodby.

Trapstickman has used a spear on several occasions: But not for Walleye.

That's the plan. I'm sure with all the different tribes involved, they're hoping for the usual liberal judge.
Something you have to look forward to:

Correct, you get a card.

If there is a generation gap you have to apply and provide documentation that your family was on the rolls. Then once or twice a year application are reviewed by a counsel and accepted or denied.

The guy I know was unaware of his heritage as his grandfather led a double life. His grandfather had a wife in Milwaukee and in Northern WI. Two families never knew of each other. Not clear on all the details. But you get this idea.

The WI tribes don't use blood quantum from what I'm aware of. That's more of a Oklahoma thing. Heck some Connecticut tribes quantum are in the single digits.

I'd trust Ray Halbritter and the Oneida Nation
to do a better job managing the walleye resource
in Oneida Lake than the New York State Dept.
of Environmental Conservation, Bureau of Fisheries.

My mouth waters for some Indian speared walleye fillets !! laugh

Yould be singing a different tune when they start raining on YOUR parade one way or another.
