Went to Menards to pick up some stuff for the shed today funny watching some of the workers thinking they are working. I had to pick some 2X4s out of a pile so I’m digging out the better ones looking for knots and cracks to avoid, 2X4X8 for $8 cheap at half the price. LOL

A guy is pushing dirt back and forth with a kitchen broom on the big cement area nearby this goes on for 10 minutes he never moved just kept sweeping the same pile around. Then he’s gone and he comes back with a dustpan then goes back to pushing the same dirt around and not moving.

I needed some foam seal strips for the bottom of the steel roof panels the girl types me up a sheet to take to the front register for 1/2 of what I need, she said pay upfront and drive around to the security shack and go to the back warehouse. I looked at her and said it form can’t I just walk over and get them?

She said well yes you could, the building is 100 yards away, I pulled twice what she said I needed then asked if I needed a different sheet she said just take it up to the register no sheet is necessary, the 6 packs of foam did not weigh a pound even why would I drive around to get it? That less then a pound foam cost almost $60 I think it’s going back that’s just nuts after thinking about it.

You're a rarity. Most people will wait half an hour if it means they can avoid picking up a 10lb bag of dirt and putting it into the trunk of their car themselves.

Once there was a lady in her 40s with a tiny bag of potting soil that weighed about 2lbs. She wanted someone to load it in her car. The cashier (who is not allowed to leave her register) explained that she would have to call someone but it would be a wait since they were busy and short staffed. Lady said that was fine, and proceeded to wait 20 minutes for someone to carry the 2lb bag of dirt to her car for her.

Just waiting for a check the one guy looked like pushing the dirt in circles the other one was not putting much thought into the job just going through the motions it seemed like. Another guy insisted on using terms that I had no clue what he was saying but he sounded good to himself I guess. LOL

He asked if the building was well vented I said sure the fire did that. He talked a lot but it was tough getting a straight answer out of him.

One of my pet peeves is people who use fancy words that no one with common sense knows what they mean. That happens where I work, one of the new supervisors does that on the incident reports that he has to write. He went to a liberal arts college so it's not a shocker. The rest of us didn't go to college and our reports are much easier to read. These reports go to law enforcement and the gaming commission and they appreciate being able to understand them. He does the same thing in emails to us, he's getting a little better as time goes on but it's a struggle.

Try home depot, They're big on customer service. Every worker that passes will ask you if they can help you with something. I've learned it's best to say no

Two gals I know went to buy a new range and washing machine. There were two teenage boys there that were supposed to load them but the women ended up loading them while the kids stood and watched.

"Coadhesiveness", isn't a word. The other 3 words are very commonly used. They certainly aren't fancy.

I did not want that kid to pick my lumber, I pick my own that joker could not sweep a floor even so he can dance with that broom all he wants. LOL My issue is worth ethic being a supervisor or many year you get a idea of who’s the worker and who’s the slacker this guy was there for the check if your going to work get something done man!

Even if I order items online I get the lumber needed when I’m picking that other online stuff up. I pick every piece of lumber myself bad lumber is just more work for a guy.

I was assuming he meant cohesiveness.

A lot of companies require their management staff to be well spoken especially if they are going to be presenting to potential customers.

Look at some of the typing that goes on here. Can you imagine them writing a letter to their legislators asking for something? lol

I will say on the bright side I was checking a few muskrat traps last night at dusk on the highway and was pulled over with my flashers on and within about 20 minutes had 2 cars stop and ask me of a needed help. Good to know there are still a lot of nice people in this world!
