From the looks of things today, it won't be long before we go back to the old ways of doing things .
Canning , digging pits to keep root crops over winter , many things to preserve food for a longer period of time .
Just wonder how many here water glass eggs .
The process in using dehydrated lime and water , covering unwashed eggs not store bought .
I wonder just how bad it's going to get , it's looking like a greater depression than in the 1930's
Because people back then depended on themselves, period .

That would be a wise plan.

On top of canning this year we are planning to use the air fryer to dehydrate potatoes, eggs and fruits.

I water glass eggs. They easily last a year.

I shudder to think of those that can't provide at least some of there owe food. Either because they live in apartments or have zero knowledge of basic gardening. We could if needed do everything but citrus, milk and grains for flour. Have sheep, pigs, goats (not dairy) chickens and a couple cows. Putting in a bigger garden and planning on canning and freezing a bunch. Complete solar set up so electric costs are minimal but do heat with propane tho.

In the depression days a lot of city folks still had cousins on the farm. For many now a days driving down an interstate is about as close to the farm they get. And every body knows food comes from the grocery store, water from the tap and electric from the plug in.

If it gets that bad those people in the apartments wont stay there...they will start showing up in the rural areas getting food by whatever means necessary.

It is humming right along, but how hard is it going to crash is the question on everyone's mind.

go looking for lids now stores are just putting out their canning supplies I got 6 dozen ball Sunday at farm and fleet 3.99 a dozen but at least they had them seen nothing but china lids in a year

I contemplated just buying jars at 11.99 a dozen

also planted raspberries and black berries this year as well as some fresh rhubarb starts and asparagus to add to the perennial garden crops

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Dehydrating in an air fryer? Never thought of that. Does it work good?
