They made our K-Mart into a medical clinic. There's a blue light special in urgent care!

When I first got out of college, I was hired as operations manager for the number one Kmart in the Midwest. It was third out of the 2400 plus stores. We took in a million and a half in actual cash on a good weekend, which didn't count large credit sales. The money was kept in bundles of ten thousand, which I had to count, for the armed truck pickups. I enjoyed working there. The head manager really liked me and implemented a lot of my ideas. I got a lot of recognition.
I got promoted and transferred to a Milford, Connecticut store, which was a craphole. In the year and a half, before I was sent there, they turned 14 managers and they turned 353 employees in the previous year, with never much more than a 130 some working there. Upper management barely showed up and ran the place into the ground. I asked for a transfer and was told that the company had to much invested in me to transfer me, so I left and ended up starting Marshal a year later.
Kmart died because it got to big and the wrong people got in control, who would not change to keep up with the times.

Sears really dropped the ball imo. They could have been like amazon. I worked in a Sears auto center a couple years in the 90s. Management was an issue imo.

I'm sure lots of the folks on here remember when Sears, Roebuck, and Co. was one of the largest fur buyers in the United States.

I wonder how many on this forum bought traps out of the Sears catalogue; I did as a kid. I remember drooling over a Model 94 Winchester (I think their name brand may have been Ted Williams??). Never could come up with the $75 for it though.

I bought traps from Simpson sears.A Victor #4 dls,and a #14 jump trap.I think I also got a couple of conibear 110's same time.Caught my first beaver with the 14. I also bought a 14 foot cedar strip canvas canoe from Simpson sears.Used the canoe also to trap the beaver. back in the 60's.The traps and canoe are long gone but I still have one paddle with the Simpson sears logo on it.
