Of Cedar tea.
That will last a couple weeks.I drink about 2 cups a week for medicinal purposes.Lots of vit c good when you are on a mostly meat diet, and a great immune system booster. Also makes you sleep real good,so when I take some,i do so in the evening.

Doesnt take much cedar.I pick a bunch of fresh cedar and keep it in the freezer to make a batch when needed..

Brring pot of water with cedar to a boil, simmer for 20 minutes, let cool, and strain into a container and keep in fridge.
When you want some, take a cup, bring to boil, add spoon of honey, maple syrup or my favorite, brown sugar, add a little cold water and drink.
The wife likes it straight up.

Does the cedar tea taste good?

Do you add anything to it?

You must have different cedar than us. I love the smell, but couldn't imagine drinking it! Maybe I should open my eyes a little wider.

Eastern white cedar.(Thuja Occidentalis)
Pick it in the bush, not from a yard tree or beside a road.

I have western red cedar here, great big trees, they grow into. The bough parts look similar to mine here...

Boco. The Latin brings me back to my forestry days. Ely Mn. I only had to learn 21 trees. English and Latin. Made it easy for my brain. laugh. Never made the tea though. I know the deer really like the white cedar browse.

Not sure about using western red cedar-you would have to ask a medicine man from your area to see if it traditionally used.
The other scientific name for the cedar we use is Arbor Vitae-(tree of life)

It is a powerful medicine,so it can harm you if you take too much.No more than a cup per day.
I take two or three cups per week.

I've spent my adult life clearing invasive red cedar. I just can't imagine--but I'm glad you have a better cedar.

Pretty cool Boco. Will give it a try. Have a community just north of me named Arbor Vitae.

the finns use cedar limbs in the sauna, to thrash & invigorate the skin of the whole body, it sort of breaks up a little & releases that nice cedar smell. very therapeutic. never tried the tea tho. pretty color.
