So this thread doesn't get to far off course, if you have a comment or suggestion, try to keep the subject to this following question. I'm trying to buy another travel trailer. It has tires on it that are 205/75 R15 I would like a tire with a load rating of E or better but cannot find a good brand name tire that size in that load rating. My only option is to change the tire size. Can you run a 255/75 R15 instead of the 205/75 R15 ? I understand that the 255 is wider, I'm just wondering if anyone has done it? The wider tire will get me in the higher speed and load range.

What are you inside walls of the fender to handle that extra width; it's the play when you hit and bump for them to clear on the down swing; the rims may not take the extra size difference Yup, I'm not sue since I don't have the trailer at the moment. Most travel trailers are built pretty close to the same which is why I was wondering if anyone had done it. I'm just looking at options at the moment.

A heavier tire is going to cause a rougher ride for your camper which isn't good for the them and their barely there construction.
A 205 75 15 is 8" wide by 27.1" tall and a recommended 5.5" rim width.
A 225 75 15 is 8.8" wide by 28" tall and recommended 6" rim width
The measurements are for a Gladiator QR25-TS trailer tire, there can be variations in size between brands.

I don't like flat tires . I try to run E rated on everything including my 1/2 ton work pick-up In order to get headache free tires on my toy hauler I had to move up from a 15 " wheel to 16 " wheel . Much better load ratings . If you have room it's worth it . The steel wheels are not that expensive . Cheap upgrade compared to the nightmare you just went through

Recently I bought a 16’ tandem axle utility trailer. It came with new tires made in China. I took off the wheels and tires and replaced them with new good steel galvanized wheels and Goodyear Endurance tires made in the USA. The Chinese tires went on equipment used at home that doesn’t go fast. The safety and reliability are worth the cost for me.

If there are tire sensors in the trailer tires does your truck pick these up in the monitor ? I hate the "big bang" There will be. I plan on buying a monitor and sensors.

Goodyear Endurance are rated for 87 mph, how fast you towing? Highway speeds around 70mph, but for long distances nonstop. Usually 500-600 miles with nothing but fuel fill ups. Tires start heating up at those speeds for that long, I don't care who makes them. That being said, the goodyears look like they might be alright in D load rating, but I would rather have an E rated. The trailer full loaded could be as much as 7,000+ it's a 28 footer

Radial trailer tires provide an extra cushion by squirming for a comfortable ride. In some situations such as a boat trailer this can be good. Bias ply tires have a stiffer ride because of stiffer sidewalls. In some applications this is better. Because of high sides and wind, they may be better for a camping trailer.
Camping trailers and boat trailers are notoriously overloaded on long trips. It is so easy to do. On trips to where we go fishing or hunting, especially in Canada, the last stretch involves hauling the regular stuff plus grub, gasoline, water, and ice. Fortunately, I can put that stuff in the truck and not be overloaded.
Boat dealers skimp on trailers to get the price down. I always choose the boat and trailer. On my boat trailer the springs were too light. According to the manufacturer’s literature, I could use a heavier spring pack on the framework. Ordered from them and installed. Also went with E rated tires. In the future almost any trailer will be tandem axle. Not just for the load carrying ability, but also for the improved pulling comfort and smoother ride for the contents.
As a very young guy, I pulled a deep v-hull aluminum boat on a trailer with 8” rims into northern Quebec. After a few hundred miles I hated that rig. Hitting potholes made the trailer bounce up in the air. It was miserable.
As you know, keeping an eye on bearing condition, age, and lube is very important. Rough roads and long trips can be challenging.

Here is a tire size comparison chart link225 70 15 is almost same size as the originals but can be found in 10 ply. handy little gadget when you want different width tires and do not have a bunch of fender space.
