Met Gary Groenewold on Saturday
in Adams Center to sell my raw, frozen,
un-finished beaver.

Had five beaver at $6.00 and three at $2.00.

The truck was 3/4th's full of beaver plews
and other fur.

Rats were stacked in $4.00, $3.00, $2.00, $1.00 grade piles.

Top raw beaver were 12 and down.

Gary would not buy coyotes, mink, or coon.

Gary bought castor from every one.

Not sure what the price was....? $50.00/lb ?

Hope everyone has a blessed Easter spent with
their families and remember that
Christ died to forgive our sins.

Groeny Rocks !!!

If he bought castor for $50 a lb. he’s laughing all the way to the bank.

Top grade raw beaver $12, that’s about 1/3 of what a dried top grade pelt would bring. My top grade beavers brought $35 at the last FHA sale.

Also my castor brought $105/ lb, so even with FHA’s 25%shrinkage and commission, that’s still better than Groeny

However, In the future I might try Groeny with my low grade damaged beaver.

Production costs are raising for trappers and buyers....buyers need a profit. Competition is low as well, wonder what’s gonna happen when Groeny retires?

I love how people on here want to bad mouth what someone paid or sold for. WITHOUT seeing or know what kind of shape , size, damage, or condition the item was being sold was. Yea squash your items brought more than walleyed did from groeny but I bet others that sold at FHA brought less than walleyed got for his. PLUS you ever notice how prices on everything change from day to day ? Heck even Hour to hour . Don't have to look any farther than gas, stocks, or bitcoin to see examples.

He already is semi retired if he is no longer buying coon.

He said he wasn't buying coon on his spring routes. Not exactly the same.

Hippie, how much would muskrats have to bring for you to trap them? Are there any muskrats on the Juniata?

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

exactly! at least with Groeny if you dont like the price you dont have to sell! If you send to auction and get $5/beaver your SOL. besides around here, and for many, groeny is the closest buyer. FHA aint too far away, and I do sell fur there too, everyone else is far enough away id have more in fuel and time than Id make in fur.
