I got less than I would have liked for 17 green frozen beaver I sold to GFW. But…l didn’t flesh, board, and remove them from the boards. In all honesty, I probably would have spent an hour on each beaver. I averaged about $4-5 less than I would have if I would have put them up and sold them at our PTA sale. So in effect, I would have been working for $4-5 an hour. In addition, I paid no commission. It’s not the perfect venue to sell ( there are none today ), but I did empty out the freezer of my March caught beaver.

PLUS you ever notice how prices on everything change from day to day ? Heck even Hour to hour . Don't have to look any farther than gas, stocks, or bitcoin to see examples.

I love how some here twist everyone’s statement into ,”bad mouth what someone paid or sold,” . All I was doing was comparing, but I guess we can only have one side of the story here right , FHA bad ?? Jesh, no wonder trapping is doomed in this country.

I missed your question earlier Jim, sorry!

I'd like to see 5 average and mink at 10 to get back after them. They are spotty and catch falls off fast, ya have to get on new ground every three days or so but there are some.

$5 is important when you have few rats. But if you can average 100 rats or more a day you can trap them for half that.

I can't imagine an area where you can catch 100 a day.

The auction houses get bad mouthed because they "held the line" or did not sell. Could be a good or bad thing for the shipper. For those that go to a buyer and sell and feel they got less then hoped for or what they should have received they did not "hold the line" They took the lower offer. This year it seemed a good thing we sold the bulk of our rats in late January. The fur finishing and wearing world has become much less stable in the last 3-4 months.

You're getting as bad as coonman.

prairie pot holes when they have stable water
your not trying hard enough if that is not the first pull of the day 7 am
Then 100 in the 4pm check
and with the full moon like now 100 in the midnight check

With these weather system now we have some water to fill the potholes, if there was only some vegetation for them to feed in, since it is all tilled under.
3 year wait now for them to return to those levels

He already is semi retired if he is no longer buying coon.

Why buy something you already have a boatload of and can't sell? There is a coon market for white leather coons at $3-$4 final sale. So what do you have to pay for green coon to cover handling, overhead costs and make a profit. Maybe it's better to just not buy them than make enemies?

That is why he is semi-retired. Why trap stuff that is not profitable? That's is why I am semi-retired. Welcome to the club, groeny!

What are you talking about ?

I did not sell put-up beaver, muskrat, or castor to groeny.

I was simply reporting the prices I saw offered to other trappers.

I sold eight raw, green, frozen beaver plews.....that's it.
