I'm gonna go look in tomorrow. Hopefully no peckerheads. I got enough of them in my life.
IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD !

Mushroom season is just about over here. I'm pretty tired of chopping them now, too. Back to work!

Snowing here today. Lilac leaves just opened. Won't be any shroos until the buds crack and show color.

Cathryn, a local term I'm sure, learned from my mom n grandmom, small mushroom on a very tall stem, maybe 6 in. stem and 1 in. head. Often wonder if it's what others call snake heads. But I'm sure you know a mushroom hunter never reveals his spots, so I guess I'll never know. Good luck tomorrow.

Our ground temps are in the low 50's that seems to be the magic number, I expect the yellows to come on this week. I'll be out every day till there done. Good luck.

It's the same as you call P-head Case, I've heard them called both all my life.
Must be an Indiana thing lol. Thank you sir, thought that may be the case but didn't want to make assumptions. Yep, Hoosiers have there own language.

Found 8 small greys this evening in Clay county. First of the year for me. It seems a little bit late and the woods isn't greened up much. Warm weather this week should really set it off. Those Grey's are inmature yellows. Bury them in a foot of leaves and check on them in a week.

Depends on the year, also definition of big numbers. I've had years where I've found 1 or 2 bushels others where I couldn't fill a bread sack. Most forest area has been cleared for row crops. Except along rivers and creeks.
