$800,000 for a house with rotting windows and a squatter in the basement. Fairfax, VA. 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Keep the comments kid friendly please. I can't make this stuff up anymore. I saw it on Instagram.

Its the same here. Total insanity. Our neighbour just listed his place for 850....its nothing fancy. 5 acres with an older house but nice big shop. We have 15 acres and are thinking its time to sell. We paid 30k for the land 34 years ago. The average price of a home in Yukon is now north of 700K

With the Market gone crazy with high prices, a homeowner can get a lot of money for their home. The problem is finding an affordable house to move into.

Very true. New construction here is running north of $300 per square foot.

I live right out side of Moorhead MN. And there is a house a mile and a half away that is for sale. We looked at the house 5 yrs ago when it first went up for sale. They were asking 560.000 for it. Its for sale again for 1,100.000. It has been for sale for 6 months. They maybe asking that much, it doesnt mean there going to get it.

I would like to see appraised value.

Here in the hill country it doesn't seem to matter what you list a place for, it will sell and a lot of times for more than the list price because multiple parties will get into a bidding war!

My little sister bought a house last week for $589,777. It's only on a third of an acre and only 2 miles from her old house, which she paid $125,000 for around 12 years ago and just sold for $339,000. She had 22 bids on her house in the first day.

Apparently Chinese people, who live in Canada are buying a lot of American houses to rent out, driving up home prices for buyers.

Cash is king. I’m not near Fairfax/Northern VA and my place would not sell for anywhere close to that kind of money. One thing to consider is selling into this market you would have to buy something else or rent in the same market unless you already had another property paid for?

Or unless you planned to move somewhere the prices were lower

I bought the main house western suburbs of Minneapolis in 91, two sides on a private country club, bought the adjoining lot then, all in 79k. Expanded the structure, nice. I have on my desk a standing offer in 7 figure plus range.
It’s crazy out there.

In my case the first 500k would be zero tax, the big chunk tho would be taxed at 15% I believe.
Isn’t that wonderful, all the years of paying taxes and then they nail you again on the end.
And the country is 30trillion in debt?

Let a couple of them over priced dumps pretty close to you sell, and then see what happens to your property tax. Ain’t life grand.

The whole hosing and lumber pricing seems pretty nuts to me.....so many folks struggling and others fighting one another to pay huge amounts for a house.. inflation out of control to the extreme and no changes in sight...a 2x4 that was $2 is $8? It is all just crazy and people seem to be taking it in stride....as the 'new norm'...I think something has got to break anytime now. But I am no expert on those type of things.

Not to mention we have mutt&jeff in the top two positions of the US government and they are a complete embarrassment.
Even saudi state media ran a skit making fun of them..

The stage is being set to destroy the middle class. Remember what they said.."you'll own nothing and be happy" it's all right in front of us plain as day, but still to some its just conspiracy.

I believe that the middle class as I knew it growing up has already been changed into something else...blue collar working folks and the mother staying home to actually see that the children were raised according to that families beliefs. People very happy with a home that was just large enough to fit the family..not many children receiving new vehicles when they got the drivers license..most teens working a job after school and thru the summer...etc.

Those people were the backbone of this nation, now it seems transgenders and transgender supporters are the new backbone because people who are against that will not fight and those who try to fight are crushed by the DOJ.
