Just found out my wife and I are getting a paid trip to Vegas from my work. It is half work and half pleasure. Any advice on the pleasure part? We want to drive out to the grand canyon. Should we stay out there near the canyon to or is a day trip from Vegas enough?

Stay out of Vegas as much as possible lol go visit the little towns around the area, Boulder dam, Grand Canyon, etc. unless you like being offered lots of drugs, losing money at the craps table and being propositioned by ladies of ill repute that is. I dislike that city very much

Spend the time and tour the dam. Do you hike? I can tell you a spot to go see some desert bighorns. When are you going to be there?

Toilet city...but the buildings are pretty cool to look at.

Don't venture off the stip (especially at night). It has a totally different vibe.

Do what others suggested..Head out of the city.

The last 2 times I went to Vegas, I ate (highly processed food), rented a car and drove to Palm Springs through the desert. It's 4.5 hours and no gas stations along the way. Fill up with gas and LOTS of water. You'll pass through some of the most vast country you've ever seen. From past readings this is the area some of the old time trappers trapped years ago. Johnny Thorpe made mention of this area in past writings.

Wife and I go to Vegas every year at least once. Love it there. We still are yet to do Hoover or the GC but both are easily day trips. Car rentals are easy and you can do them on turo if you want something nicer like a convertible. However in Nov it will be a little cold for that. We drove to laughlin for a day the last time. Old and run down but the gamblings cheaper. Gambing on the strip is tough as everythings high minimums. Fremont street is definitely worth visiting if youve never been there. Strange folks but fun to watch. Ive never been propositioned drugs or women while there so dont listen to others. Anywhere in the big emtertainment areas is perfectly safe. The off strip is def a lil sketchy though like he said. Lots of shows and good but overpriced food on the strip. Poker games are good to if thats your thing. Oyo on the south end is my favorite for table games as they have $5/mins amd good rules for all the games. Across the street from MGM. Have fun! Were going in August this year.

It's been five years since last been there. Always stayed at the D on Fremont Street. They had a bank of nickle slots upstairs where you would win small jackpots from time to time. It was good cheap fun called Nicklemania. Don't know if they are still there. People outside roaming Fremont street. were of all shapes and sizes. Saw a couple of grown men walking around wearing nothing but diapers. They might have been filled. The Four Queens had good breakfast. Don't know if buffets are going again since covid.
