Since coyotes are unprotected and you can hunt them year round. I don't see how if you throw them away how that can be considered wanton waste. SSS

And skunks. What if you hit a deer with your car or some other critter are you going to be responsible If you just drive away?

SSS Even though they are unprotected, you still need a trapping or small game license to harvest one. The licenses come with rules/regulations. If the wanton waste proposal ever goes into effect as written on the survey, it would effectively force you to eat a NV coyote (or any animal for that matter). I wonder what a grey back weasel tastes like! Or a cotton mink?? Probably find out who likes to eat crow too...

Took a look at the list of unprotected species in Wisconsin, and coyotes just plain ain't on it.
Coyote recipes?
Moosetrot Based on the wording of the question on the survey, I don’t think it matters if it’s protected or not. Not only that, with the current fur market, there will be more and more catches that grade NV…or next to nothing. This proposal lets the game warden determine what your time/effort is worth. And after you can no longer run a functional trap line, then the G trapper moves in and he doesn’t have to follow the same rules as you and me.

Would you support re-establishing in person deer registration stations? 21 Would you support returning to the requirement to wear backtags? (Requires legislation)
This was voted yes by a large majority, just curious what the advantage is? We do not have the backtags anymore and have never had the in person deer registration. I think for many people it was just a large part of the tradition and culture that was “ The WISCONSIN gun deer hunt”. Even if you didn’t kill a deer it was an opportunity/excuse for people to drive to the local tavern and have a beer and BS with there friends and family and see what everybody else shot. Plus it was a huge boon to those businesses registering the deer. ( mostly taverns, and fuel stations ) Many small towns in the Northern part of the state depended largely on these hunters and the business that they brought to the community . The business owners and people running the establishments tagging deer are largely in favor of bringing this back. But it is a lot more convenient to just register over the phone. The only advantage to in person registration I’ve heard (not sure if it’s warranted or not ) is that in person registration makes people more accountable and less likely to skip registering there deer .

Backtags are favored by lots of landowners and especially those that border public ground. Makes it easy to turn in tresspassers without having to confront the violator.
I heard way more valuable insight on this forum than I ever heard in the meeting room. I cant remember the last time I changed my opinion on a question from something I heard during a meeting. Changed my mind multiples times here because of things that were discussed.

I am going to have to fo a little digging but I believe wanton waste was challenged in the courts. I think they ruled that if you bought a license and harvest game, it becomes your possession. You can do whatever you want with it at that point and there is nothing they can do about it.
