Tomorrow The Boy will open shop for the 5th year! He keeps it stocked till about July and makes his spending money for the year. He wants to but a lawn mower and a weed eater next year so he can get into the lawn care game. We talked about mowing ours and the grandparents lawn this year and if he does a good job without complaints I will ok the purchase of a mower. Not sure if it is possible to get a 12 year old insured cause i am not comfortable without it in our society. Sad but true... anyhow back to the task at hand.. We got out tonight with the niece and piled up about 83 dozen! It was the first time she was able to keep up with me picking. (I must be slowing down lol) Always fun chasing the illusive little guys!

No crawlers here--my best night picking with my younger cousin was just over 6,000--no way now could I bend over 4,ooo times.
Best picking was on a golf course. You wouldn,t believe some of the things I saw.

Picked a lot when I was younger and sold to the local store. I used to tie coffee cans to my legs so I didn't have to carry a bucket to speed up the process. My back is sore writing this lol

That's why he sells for $2 a dozen we have 3 Kwik Trips within 5 blocks and their price is $3.89/doz but theirs are all large crawlers, The Boy sells em mixed large and small together and a bakers dozen minimum

That's awesome. My sister and I sold them back in the late 70's for $.40 a dozen.

That’s awesome. Good for him, what a great way to make some money.
My boys used to sell leeches when they were younger. Now they pick and sell sheds.

I always enjoy seeing posts like this one.

I remember being in that "business" as a kid about thirty years ago. I think we got a nickel a worm, though I couldn't tell you where that money came from, nor where it went. 5 or six boys from the neighborhood would team up and divide the yards. We weren't allowed to go out in a thunderstorm, so a good long rain with no lightning got everyone excited around dusk.
