When I set the trap it was not flat because of the swivel and when I set it it slid and caught my fingers. Gotcha. Thanks. I catch myself about 2 or 3 times a year Lol I thought that is just being a normal trapper

Catching your fingers is just part of the process. I usually get pinched once or twice a year. I’m pretty sure you can’t catch coyotes if you don’t catch yourself first, I read it in a rule book somewhere….

Never tried a 550 on for size. I like the #3 four coil Bridgers myself. I'm going to get them for beaver.

You are going to use a slippery surface piece of wood rather than the ground to set the 550? Um..... Well.... Fire in the HOLE!!!

I believe he was going to use a Bridger # 3 for beaver. Still not ideal, but some guys like them. I personally use #5s for beaver, cause those back feet are huge.
Smacking your fingers every now and then is just part of the process lol. I’ve probably been grabbed by every trap I own at some point. The 330 hurt bad but by far the most painful was a brand new 4 coiled duke #4 that just got the tip of my middle finger. Lost that whole fingernail. It’s not bad getting a couple fingers, or even just one up higher, but when the tip of one finger takes the full force of the springs….OUCH
