My brother in law found these in his dad stuff. Trying to figure out if they are some sort of rivets and what they are used on?

He is sure there not pig castrators. [Linked Image]

Only an old beekeeper knows what those are. Fortunately I'm an old beekeeper.

They're frame pins for supporting wired wax foundation. Foundation is the wax or plastic sheet template we install in the frame for bees to draw wax on. Wired wax comes with vertical crimp wire embedded already. The foundation needs further support either by threading horizontal wires across the frame through predrilled hole or by slipping those pins in to catch the outside vertical wire.

I say old as wired wax has fallen into disuse.

You use them beaverfoot?

I still crosswire mine. I'm old enough to remember when duragilt was new. Tried it and hated it the bees hated it as well.
