I have used Kroil for cleaning the rust off of antique axe heads, knives, tools, and the occasional rusted bolt for many years. It's "pickin' season" again and I have more stuff to clean up. Figured my cans of Kroil were getting to the point I ought to get some more...until I priced it.

Does anyone have recommendations on other products I can use that may be as good as Kroil? I normally use 0000 steel wool and it has worked great. I still have a badly arthritic wrist and can't do a lot of things but I can hopefully get a few things cleaned up to sell.

Thanks!

Buy more Kroil and raise you prices on what you sell. I haven't found anything as good, let alone better and less expensive.

Try a 50/50 mix of Acetone/ATF Fluid. Generic kroil oil.

Old enough to know better, but dumb enough to still try.

I don't clean stuff down to bare metal, just clean it up, leaving the patina that collectors like. If they want to take it to bare metal, that's up to them. I have heard about how good Evapo Rust does, but it would not serve my purpose.

My buddy was telling me how great this stuff was. I tried to get some from midway but they are sold out other than a gallon which is way more than I need.

May as well ask instead of making a mess...can I put this concoction in a spray bottle or will it eat it?

Thanks!

What about electrolysis? Removes the rust, leaves the patina
