Jbyrd you should be making millions. Do you know the Powerball winning numbers for tonight? Of course you do. Lol lol lol NAh even a broken clock is right 2 times a day. I'm just waiting on someone to explain how, why, the market jumps and falls. Other than the rich are jacking around with working people's money. Whether it's they're investments or what it cost to live. One excuse is oil prices, but then it goes up higher and falls back to that level and market changes. Based on everything wrong in this world the market should be in a constant tail spin. But DEMS won't let that happen thus I coined the phrase JOE'S CHRISTMAS MIRACLE ....

The Dow Jones is currently at 33,565.78, which is 325.60 higher than it ended at yesterday. That's a 0.98% increase. Less than 1% is not much fluctuation and only a moron would think that is significant.
Keith X2. Not many people even pay attention to the Dow. The S&P 500 index has a current historical volatility of 15.149. That means that the index value is expected to fluctuate one way or the other by 0.9468% each day for the next 30 days. It is currently up 0.98 % Just about where the math says it should be

Watching the stock market day to day is a good way to stress yourself out. I look at my investments a couple times a year and don’t worry about the tiny hiccups the last few days has seen.

Keith No the fact a moron can predict it tells a lot about the market. THEY AINT going to let it bust. I don't care what it does just like razing the financial experts on here that anybody can see what it's going to do. It has had the same pattern since bobo took over. The players know where it needs to be but they won't let it go there. Because the rich and powerful will have to get real jobs. Or sell one of their summer homes. Why do you think they time release info after the bell or they space out the profit reports . Conveneint that if it's going down too fast a profitable co will give it's report to push it back up.

Next question !!!!! Do you comprehend how very small and insignificant a 400 point change is? Keith Just read my previous entry . If it is so insignificant how come they say the world is ending when it goes down 400 points??? I can say the same thing about a loss .Right?

Why do you think they time release info after the bell or they space out the profit reports . Conveneint that if it's going down too fast a profitable co will give it's report to push it back up. Hopefully you do realize that earnings announcement dates are set quarterly. Everyone who cares, knows well in advance of when the announcement will be made. Not every company reports after the close. Just as many report before the open or some even during the trading session I think one thing you are ignoring or may not be aware of is algorithmic trading that is taking place every day. If large trading houses think....for example.....that 4000 is a level that the market may not break through, they will program those algorithms to buy at 4000 and sell again at a level higher than that. You can also see distinct patterns in price activity at specific times of the day. Usually at 10 a.m ET and again at about 2:45 ET you can USUALLY see a weakening in the market whether it is an up or down day. If you watch closely you can also see a pattern that is pretty well established. Let's say you want to buy stock in XYZ. If you want to get a 'reasonable' entry price don't buy on the 1st or the 15th of the month. New money is usually put to work on those days because of retirement funds correlated with paydays across the country. That will possibly push up a stock price slightly just due to demand for shares. Oftentimes the third week of the month is the better time to buy....but not always. I suppose some could see this as a big conspiracy but in actuality it is just little blips that develop because of normal behavior and business practices. Back in the old days when we were trading with actual individuals on the exchange floor you could see a big difference when lunch time hit. The substitute traders were more willing to make a trade that split the bid/ask spread than were the varsity guys. Electronic trading and trading in decimals instead of fractions made it a lot more competitive and harder for everyone to make money. A lot of this amounts to trivia that is visible but hardly profitable
