Once again they pulled a slick one . Yes the market rebounded big time but as soon as it closed the big losers reported . WTH .Amazon lost 7.6 billion this quarter, plus several others. But what happens after hours doesn't count I guess. LOL

Buddy, you’re one of a kind…you should charge admission. My guess is that you’d make more on that than the stock market!

Jim Cramer quote tonight. Most money of all is made when investing in companies whose ratings climb from "terrible to bad".

Just wondering what "slick one" that might be ?

Was Apple a "big loser" too ? I think not. What about the other 452 companies that also reported earnings today ? Shall we not count those ?

Your comment about what happens after hours is probably more interesting than you know.

It's an empirical fact that almost ALL the gain in the market happens at night. So far, no one can adequately explain why but there is no question that if you bought t stock at the close every day and sold it at the open the next day, your results would be far superior to trading the opposite way. That is one reason why day trading usually ends badly. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/02/your-money/stock-market-after-hours-trading.html

This is a partial explanation why you will do better in the market by holding a position long term than you will do by trading in & out.

As far as Amazon goes....their loss was actually 3.8 billion overall. They had 3.7 billion in operating profit (from activities that Amazon actually controlled) but they suffered a NON_operating loss of 7.6 billion from their investment in Rivian Automotive ( electric truck),

Amazon is negative because of all the new distribution facilities they've spent money on!😄I think there's 5 within 20 miles of the house. That I know of. Amazon looks to me like a big success story.

Their ad revenue was way down from a year ago, online sales were down 3%, and the strong dollar whacked 2% more off their earnings.

I don't see what difference at what time of the day a business reports profits. After hours today? Or it could easily be said before tomorrow's opening. It's semantics, the information is what is important.
