Good Job! Next year you should have three years of coon to take a picture of. I guess in your infinite wisdom you missed the comment where all of those are sold, LOL "I averaged 11.18 on my coon this year. Of that total,$5.35 was fur average. Alot more then just fur here guys." I hope for his sake this means that. The year before he only sold some.

I'm sorry... I only counted 1218 coon. That's an impressive haul.

Thanks everyone, I love handling fur, ya the market isn't bad, but it's not non existent either. Surprisingly, I never did catch a mink this year. 99% of my coon come from 220s and dps on dry ground. I know alot of the big trappers say if you want to catch coon you need to find water. I don't disagree with that, but I feel I have a fairly good system that produces dry, and slightly larger size average by trapping dry ground. Dry ground locations definitely "dry up"quicker forcing me to move locations generally after 2-3 coon. Whereas water tends to keep producing fur, sometimes all season long. I do want to learn to be a better water trapper, it's hard around here as almost all my creeks are full of rip raft or erosion rock. But that's an obstacle that hopefully I can learn to improve on, how to set on locations such as this.
Lessons learned/improvements for next year:
I tried waiting until snow to trap coyotes instead of trapping them early along my coon line. Terrible idea, that was gas wasted as they were so far and in-between when I drove right past it, and filled in-between with 10 coon sets earlier in the year.
Do more scouting, every year when I think I've scouted enough, I prove myself wrong and find myself in a pinch looking for ground.
Finish more fur ealier, when I run my work trap line, those low number days go ahead and finish them every night. Don't just add to the pile thst needs finished after season.
DONT BE LAZY!! I've really improved on this, but it still is there. Especially day 3 or 4, fatigue and exhaustion sets in, but it's easy to be tired look down the ditch at an empty dog proof and say "I'll reset it tomorrow" thsts fur missed. Still plenty to improve on this subject.
Thanks guys it was a fun season and I'm always learning and trying to improve!

Wow. That is a lot of hard work ! That is a Hudson Bay Fur Company picture if there ever was one. QUESTION… What do you think your biggest coon weighed in this picture ? Great job. MD
