Lol bird seed, maybe ill add that to my list. I use dog food, frier grease, sweet feed, cracked corn, with live stock steep. Then I spray up around my sight with blueberry, anise, Carmel, beaver castor scents from baited 907. I've had good luck. Lots of work.

I make 3 products that folks use to make the bait go further 2 liquids and one powder. place the powder in a rotten stump or log or dug-up area. The liquids place the same way or add to the barrels. the same can be done with stuff like vanilla, maple syrup, grape kool-aid, and the list goes on. to make a powder grind up some cat/dog food mix in some kool-aid and dig it into a stump or loose soil. The ground rotten stump will take on the smell and the bears will keep investigating it even when there is no seen product. one advantage is the bears come in check it out dig a little then leave and another will do the same thing. this helps takes away the bear won't come in because the dominant bear will not leave the barrel keeps all the bears interested..

Strain used fryer oil so it’s clean of chunks. Spike it with liquid smoke. Then use a pump style super soaker to suck it up and shoot it up as high as you can into the trees.
Yep. Bears universally are attracted to the smell of smoke. I don’t know if it comes from burning garbage dumps or investigating campfires, but they’ll check it out when they get a whiff of liquid smoke. I know of an outfitter in Maine that bought it in a 55 gallon drum to set up bait sites.

I've gone to using it quite a bit. I take a plastic coffee can and poke a small hole through the bottom just big enough to get a piece string through it. Tie off a rag inside the can and douse it with liquid smoke and hang it from a limb six or eight feet off the ground. The can protects the rag from the rain and keeps it working longer. Molasses works well. Anise oil or paste are old standbys.
We used to be able to get granola that was sourced from Nature Valley. We bought it by the ton. It was by far the best bear bait I've ever used. Once the bear found it, they never left it.
