Any of you folks who love scaly critters happen to know what this guy is ? This range has this little guys all over it and to be honest I think is about the only place I've seen them locally. Pretty chill and don't seem to care too much about people

Don’t know what they are, but we have a bumper crop of the same ones around our house this year. Will be interested to see what others have to say

Got any pics of the belly? Looks like a fence lizard to me but I’m not a expert of what’s all looks living in your area.

Spiny lizard….aka fence lizard what they call them here.

Sceloporus genus I think. Have several different kinds here in Texas depending where one lives.
I’m betting Warrior or LATrapper will chime in and give you a positive ID.

That is an Eastern Fence Lizard Sceloporus undulatus- I have six or seven on my front porch and driveway every day. If it gets too hot, they go into the garage to get in the shade.

Looks like a fence lizard here also. Bigger than I ever seen but in a southern state could be same species. Blue throat patch surrounded by black ? Dark lines on rear side of thigh? That species would be my guess? Spent 6 months in 1973 studying reptiles etc.

Before the invasion of Mediterranean wall lizards, Eastern Fence Lizards, like that female and Common 5 Lined Skinks were the only lizards I ever caught here in Ohio. Those fence lizards could wear you out chasing them around a tree trunk, unless you tap the other side and make them come to you. The males get some brilliant blue or green patches on the throat and abdomen. I let 28 fence lizards go in my parents back yard one Summer, trying to get them established.

Some of the big salamanders are pretty cool. I gave gave an around 4 inch tiger salamander, I found, to a friend of mines son. They had it for around 5 years. It grew to 14 inches long. It didn't look like a real live animal. It looked like a huge, colorful, rubber or plastic toy. It was a voracious eater. It got very excited when they fed it and would gobble down a large nightcrawler in seconds.

There are Common Five-lined skinks, Prairie skinks Six-lined racerunners, Slender glass lizards and Whiptails in parts of Minnesota.

Most lizards in the Northern parts of the US aren't very common and are quick to hide. Unless you really hunt for them at the right times and in the right habitat, you usually won't see any.

The Mediterranean Wall Lizards, that are taking over Cincinnati and it's suburbs are weird. They have very high population densities often 1500 to 4000 lizards per acre. They are not very shy either. I first caught some when I was in Sicily in 1998. I think they will likely cover all of Ohio someday.

The others are correct, looks like a fence lizard, or what we call a bluebelly around here. Been chasing them things around catching them since I could walk lol. Does it have a bright blue belly? I’ve seen them range from turquoise to cobalt blue. Feisty little critters, they’ll bite you immediately if you don’t grab em right lol.

If you try to catch it, pin the body down with your hand and then hold the head between two fingers. The tails break off easily, so don't grab or pin down the tail.
