After checking out Mole's post about his turkey hunt with his wife (quite an accomplishment!!!) I thought I'd share my pics that I have from this year's archery turkey hunts here in SE Nebraska! The Good Lord Blessed me with 2 turkeys! Love getting into my blind before sunup and listen to the multi gobblers dawn song [Linked Image]

. Then when the sun starts to brighten the eastern sky it's quite a show. The birds were a bonus !!

I LOVE your state for turkey hunting. Multiple tags without the BS South Dakota makes you go through. Are those meriam mixes or are you near rios?

One turkey had all the markings of a typical eastern. The other bird had white tipped feathers usually typical of a merriam turkey although the rest of the bird's feathers were like an eastern. In trail cam pictures I had of the big flocks before break up there were a lot of white tipped feathered toms in the area I hunt. I have seen this before in my area for the last 20 years or more where there looks to be a merriam type bird mixed in with the bronze color birds every so often.

Are typical bird is the eastern, go about 40 miles west then
you start getting into the eastern / Rio grande hybrid, go
another 30 miles west then you start getting into the rio grandes.

Good crop of birds this year up at 4:15 tomorrow morning to help a friend get one of his birds. Keep the bird pics coming.
