Cut down a big ash tree down today. At the butt, it's 23". Where I ended up,, the Cobbs are about 10". I cut it up into Cobbs that average about 18" long. I got 28 Cobbs. Cord wise, what do I have.? Gotta split it yet. Thanks..

There's roughly 500 board feet to the cord Scribner scale; I would scale that in three logs, maybe a 16 and two 12's. It might get you somewhat close. Add a zero to all the volume numbers shown on the table; in other words, a 12 foot log 10 inches diameter on the small end would be 30 board feet.

Real rough you have 28 rounds at 18 inches long and average of about 15 inches in diameter
a cord is 8 feet long 4 feet high and 4 feet deep
15inches goes into 8 feet 6 times so there is a face width
and it goes into 4 feet 3 times so so that is a face hight
6x3=18 of those rounds is a face
I would say you have a touch over a half cord might be 2/3 depending on how you stack it

Dang!, was hoping I had a cord at least. This was hard work. Tree had a huge amount of limbs. Trimming them and pileup was the worst part. Thanks guys

Thanks guys might get there if you include all those limbs everything down to inch and a half, or so , it all burns it's hard to say till you have it stacked if you hauled it how many truck beds full?

What you have is 62 cubic feet of solid wood in those "cobbs".
Generally, a cord is thought of as 128 cubic feet, but, that includes a lot of air space.
My guess is: once split and stacked, you can count on around 3/4 of a cord, or a bit over two face cords.
Add to that any 3-4" branches, and you have over your 1 cord goal.

lots of regional language in wood here you buck a tree into rounds
if you have a big tree you would noodle your rounds into haves or quarters
noodling because of the long stingy noodle like chips
