A few months ago I was working at one of our properties and noticed a muskrat had set up shop in the pasture pond. Pretty rare sight around here. I was thinking last night in my 30 plus years of trapping I think I’ve seen 3 or 4. The second day I worked there he came up on the bank about 30 feet from me. I’m weird so when I saw him I said “good morning Jimmy”. Since that day he’s been Jimmy. We are in a bad drought. Worst one most guys around here can remember. The last few weeks I’ve been turning on the cattle drinker and letting it run over to help Jimmy out but the high winds and warm weather are just to much. Chance of rain today so maybe we will finally get some moisture. Keep Jimmy in your thoughts today. He needs a good rain!!

I wouldn’t be surprised. I mean seriously if some lady can get more money than I make a year for being stupid enough to use gorilla glue as hair gel, then I bet Jimmy can at least double that. Probably get enough to drill him and all his family each their own well.

Jimmy and his type have been in trouble since the day DDT was outlawed if you ask me. Growing up in Eastern KS it was hard to find a pond that a snot nosed kid couldn't fill a 5 gallon bucket of rats 2 or 3 days in a row and then hop to the next one. Now (the last time I drove through anyway) you hardly ever see a feed bed but if some guy is swathing hay there are so many birds of prey it looks like the start of an Alfred Hitchcock movie.
