Sent 3 garment tanned beaver to have them hooped and I am very happy with the work they did. I sent them to Riverine fur traders.

Very nice.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Flipper,
Did they attach reinforcing leather on the back side before lacing to the hoop? I have a small tanned beaver I planned on hooping myself this summer and have read where something needs to be added as a backer to prevent tearing through the tanned hide. Thanks. Picture?

I hooped several beaver on my own years ago and didn’t add any leather reinforcement. I recently transported one of them from my home to my camp. It got jostled around pretty good and pulled through the hide at two places. Never heard of adding the leather reinforcement but it makes sense.

I will get you a pic shortly, the beaver were blocked and the leg holes closed, not much tension between the hide and rawhide.

Mike has hooped several for me.Very detailed in his work. They are beautiful every time. I pick them up at the conventions to save on shipping cost.
