I hooped several beaver on my own years ago and didn’t add any leather reinforcement. I recently transported one of them from my home to my camp. It got jostled around pretty good and pulled through the hide at two places. Never heard of adding the leather reinforcement but it makes sense. They did nice work on yours Flipper.

Could you share where you got them tanned? Length of time to get them back etc...
Thanks Tubari tanned them and it is always 4 to 6 weeks turn around. Flipper, Did they attach reinforcing leather on the back side before lacing to the hoop? I have a small tanned beaver I planned on hooping myself this summer and have read where something needs to be added as a backer to prevent tearing through the tanned hide. Thanks. Picture? I will get you a pic shortly, the beaver were blocked and the leg holes closed, not much tension between the hide and rawhide.
