Seeing folks after Ramps, Morrells are popping up. Dandelions are just barely flowering. Grew up with Grandma and Mom out picking greens. A couple simmers with water change, then fried with a slice or two of bacon. Grandma always said it was good for the blood after a long winter! I have one or two batches every spring, then Purslane a bit later in the season.

you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

I make green powder out of the dandelion greens and roots from young dandelions out of the garden patch for winder dishes, mostly egg scrambles, I'm allergic to fish so I eat lots of Purslane for omega 3s. Purslane is one of my favorite greens.

Olso Lambs Quarter, and curly Doc. To go with garlic radish and early garden greens. Definitely with some bacon. smile

Tell us how to pick and cook them FG. I got a yard full of those yellow flowers.

Make dandelion wine, bowhunter! Liquid sunshine in a bottle! Make sure to age before trying it though, you may think I'm lying to you!

Maybe it's a Michigan thing? I have eaten buckets and buckets full of Dandelion greens over the years. My folks always gathered them. We'd even freeze them if the picking was easy and we got a big mess. They also made wine....of course, they were always brewing up some sort of alcoholic delight. I've even made "coffee" from the baked roots. It was actually pretty good.
