When polished with a dremel(when making jewellery) the annuli shows very nicely. A word of caution-when polishing claws with a dremel, keep it on low speed.Too fast it can heat up and will leave burn marks on the claw. You can use the different attachments to clean and polish the knucle also-dont have to soak it.

I generally do a couple thousand claws annually, including a few badgers. I crock-pot on low for several hours, then clean off hair and tissue under faucet with toothbrush. That's pretty much it. Many will say this method will slip the hull off the claw-bone. In this group of coyote claws, I had two slip out of about 900 cleaned. Hope this helps, Cascade Gina. Jack

Gulo, do you do beaver this way too? Yes. Over he years I've done many beaver (I'm fascinated by the preening claws). Method works well, even with all the fleshy pads on beaver toes. Jack

Slow cooking works. It removes soft material and leaves the hard parts. Over heating (boiling) and or to long in the cook is what can cause the seperation. Right heat and amount of time piece of cake as Gulo says.
This can be done with all critter claws. Smaller claws less time.
If they do separate and the two pieces are kept together super glue after drying.
I don't clean many but always a few as they make nice earrings. One of the better selling jewelry items for some of my venues.
