The democrats light and now mostly non existent enforcement of laws are what allows this to continue to grow.

What is irritating, the liberal politicians that cause this live in nice gated neighborhoods with armed security and they can care less by this crap while throwing it into everybody else’s face to put up with it.

That is definitely very disturbing to see. Humans are our worst enemy. Drugs are not a good thing! Evil people make money on other people’s addiction.

At the same time, I don’t think what the OP posted the video of is an accurate reason behind the labor shortage. What’s depicted in the video is not happening here and we still have a labor shortage.

What’s going on in the labor market is a generation gap. More are retiring than being replaced. And the Covid BS has sped up the retirement!

Coming to a liberal state near you soon ---- oh wait you are almost there now. -- Give it a couple of years - it isn't completely a generation gap thing. You just haven't dug into why you can't get replacement workers yet.

With your overwhelming response, now I see the light.

And for the Dems the most important issue is what pronoun should people be using.

Sorry Bvr -- didn't mean to be blunt. I have some relatives in madison - but have never been to WI so I only have limited info to go on. The company that I used to work for had mandatory drug test on hiring -- they stopped that when they couldn't get a clean test. I had a hard time working with anyone that was impaired on the job ( alcohol or drugs) -- mainly because I didn't want anyone on my crew to die or get injured. That is also one of the main reasons that I own my business today -------- that and the fact that I was a politically incorrect a-hole.

I agree that whatever the heck those folks in the video are taking is NOT what is causing the labor gap.

But I disagree, to an extent, that what is causing it is a generation gap, as defined above.

It IS though, a generation gap causing it. Anyone age Gen X above works, while anyone below GenX tries to find every way out of working. So Beavretriever isn't exactly wrong. More ARE retiring than those replacing them.... because those who should be replacing them refuse to work for a living/

I do have to agree that the covid bs has sped up the retirement -- which my previous employers were struggling to keep because they couldn't find a decent replacement. However - - They would hire a drugged out washed up ex-con over giving a inexperienced gen x,y,z that wanted to work a shot also. I would rather take a chance and spend some time training an xyz er over the alternatives - but you are correct the younger folks don't tend to have the work ethics of the older ones.

This is not just in the big cities guys and gals. Our Sheriff has a small quiet support group for First responders and Deputies and EMT's The purpose is helping these hero's deal with our small
rural area where many do know the last names or families of O/D victims. Some having been saved by Narcan, MULTIPLE TIMES! Some don't make it. It does impact the people called to help.
Not too many weeks ago a young person that has the family name dating back to the first settlers in our area. The family has grown, branched out to several farms and business locally.
The young person cooked up the fentanyl laced heroin, two syringes. Person was found with one syringe in the leg, thumb on the plunger. Other syringe loaded and ready laying next to the person.
Imagine the impact on the Officers, First Responders and EMT's that see this all too often, young and old victims, that just didn't have to be....The countries and cartels sending the drugs use them instead of bullets to attack us, and get rich doing it.

you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

Go to a grocery store during the day and watch the people. I work for a maintenance company that supplies services to grocery stores. Watch the amount of working age people (not just young) who go grocery shopping with mom. The other day it was 50% of the store. 30-45 year old men shopping with mom and ordering her what to buy. This is common. All over WI, and Illinois. There is a generation gap because "my little boy is just different and cant work." Kids withot jobs living at home over the age of 20 is whats ruining this country. Used to be when I was a kid only moms with kids were in the stores during the week shopping.

Fox news had a story on this morning said 90 % of the people not returning to work fell into 3 catagories.
1 Living off stock market winnings
2 Retired
3 and the biggest were 20-35 year olds that moved back into parents homes during shutdown sponging off them !!!

I think they forgot a pretty important one. People 18-80 sponging off of welfare.

Most societal problems that pop up seem to have a relatively simple solution. Do this and it will solve the problem.

When I watch that video......I see a whole class of lost souls for which I see no solution. They are already dead and don't even know it. And what becomes of them when they die? Notify next of kin if they can be found? Tag em? Bag em? Cremate them? Send the ashes to a landfill?

When I was a kid, we had a pipeline blow up about 10 miles from our house. The blast rattled the windows and you could see the fireball from that far away. Seemed like it would be impossible to put that fire out, but they did it easy. They turned off a valve upstream and it burned itself out. I see no such desire to turn off the pipeline of drugs. Far too many folks seem willing to accept the drug trade, even knowing how destructive it is. Keep the fire going.......let it burn.

So really no solution other than to keep a dumpster handy in which to put the deados.
