Not sure? Had something to do with how hot it was in the garage and the fact the freezers and coolers are constantly giving off heat. An air conditioner wouldn’t be able to combat it. I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking how you guys do it. Lol

If the garage is insulated, and windows if any are kept covered it should stay fairly cool in there. Why do you want it cold in there? Are you relegated to the garage often?

Does your garage have windows? If yes, I’m sure it would help to open them and vent all that excess heat from the freezers and refrigerators. You said it gets hotter in there than outside so…
If no windows then I think I would look into putting a heavy duty exhaust fan through the wall.
I think the guy you talked to was probably right about an AC, at least a window AC, having a hard time combating the heat those freezers are giving off.
Eh...wot?

You can cool it with A/C unit as long as it’s sized big enough. Get a through the wall unit a 28 thousand BTU or a Ductless Split heat pump. Both are going to cost you some money. Check with your providence and see if they offer any subsidies for heat pumps it could save you money.
The bitterness of poor quality last a lot longer than the sweetness of low price

if the temp outside is cooler than inside especially if you have a 5 degree centigrade difference it is a matter of moving air
when you start talking about AC you start using significantly more power to pull the heat which is necessary if it is hotter outside than inside

Put a car port type addition on to your garage to accommodate the coolers/freezers.You install tarps that can open or close to keep out inclement weather,or snow in winter,or move the freezers(on dollys) back inside for winter.

Look into the concept of a solar chimney. They are non mechanical and can can be design and made endless ways. I have them on several buildings including a 10' one of 3" Blk pic pipe on an outhouse and it draws like o vacuum on a sunny day. They are easy to close off and insulate for winter. Vent for intake air on coolest side of building. They will not lower temp below ambient temp though. Being a garage I guess it has an uninsulated grade floor on concrete so running a exhaust fan at night will expel daytime heat buildup quicker and store a reserve of cool in floor to offset next day. On draw back is if you have hi humidity in summer over cooling can lead to condensation(sweating) which can be troublesome.
I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.

Hey Lugnut, I have 2 windows in the garage, but they don’t open. I think what I’m going to do is put an in line duct fan in and have it blow out the heat. Not sure yet if I’ll add an intake fan or not.

With constant hot air being produced by so many refrigeration units, your only viable option would be cross ventilation with a fan. Otherwise you are gonna be fighting a significant moisture issue around the A/C unit not to mention the heat the A/C unit generates.
A good fan with cross ventilation or an attic fan to take the rising heat out is the only sensible option.
Best of luck.

any reason not to leave the garage door open about 2 inches at the bottom?
like you store food and would get vermin?
the ideal way would be a attic fan and add more venting to your roof it would pay dividends on your cooling bill for the house also.
removing a window and putting some fans and a shroud to keep rain from blowing in would also be good
on the cheap a few fans and leave the garage door open a few inches at the bottom but if insects or vermin are an issue that is a problem
do you have a person door in the garage to the outside? you can pop it off the hinges and make a door with vents in it or add a screen door to the person door
it is all about moving more air in there.
