Got a few PMs from folks wondering how my leukemia issue was going. Its been a little more than a year since I was diagnosed. Remeber, I wouldn't have known at all if i hadn't tore the pec muscle tendon off my right arm bone while skinning coyotes. My preoperative bloodwork showed elevated white blood cell count. Had my surgery (pins and stitches, and got a cool zipper now I can tell kids that's where the coyote got me). In March 2021 my abnormal white blood cells comprised nearly 50% by their measurements. Had no immune system, and was not in a good place. Was on chemo right away and getting checked every two weeks. Thankfulky things corrected course quickly. I also have to credit my awesome wife and caregiver for keeping me on track with meds and all of her work researching the matter and what we needed to do. I only go in every 3 months now for blood work measurements. FYI, the last THREE quarterly measures for p210 and p190 all came back "negative" or "undetectible." The lab can only detect down to 0.003% and above, so I am running somewhere below that...which is exactly where we hoped to be and stay. I still take chemo 2x daily, every 12 hours. I have my phone reminders set for 5:00AM and 5:00PM daily, and can never miss a dose. I can't eat 2 hours before or 1 hour after each dose, but you learn to manage. Bought a neat little pill holder, a little aluminum canister with o ring in screw on cap that stays on my key chain which is always with me. Couple time running coyote traps last winter with my son I had to stop in field and take a pill. Good to keep a dose on you, you learn to manage it and still live a great life. He and I laughed about it often. "Oh dad, I will remake the set, here you need to take your chemo." Response to meds has been great. I could be on this the rest of my life although there is some research out there that if I can stay at undetectible for 3 straight years there is a 50/50 chance i could go off and be done with it. One step at a time though. I'm staying healthy. Just ran my 27th marathon last weekend in Lincoln. Did a 10 mile race in Omaha earlier in the month of April too. Got one more to train for yet this fall, same one I ran last fall too. Never stop exercising. At 56 years old I'm still running a couple of these each year. For those fighting any kind of cancer...keep fighting the good fight with all you got. I appreciate all of the support and thoughts and prayers from the folks on here. Tman rocks. Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Good to hear that you're kicking the leukemia's butt!
Just curious, if you want to tell, what's your oral chemo med, methotrexate?
