I'm stuck at my cabin due to flooding. Went for a walk today and this caught ,y eye.
It's a hull from a buck I shot in about 1990.
Big,old buck.
Kinda cool remembering that time so many years ago.

Thats neat. I always look for my empties, but often can't find them. Then a year or three later I find them. It is neat, remembering the old hunts.

I remember selling lots of them back in the day.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Very cool find! I love when something small brings the memories flooding back.

Yes sir. A real hammer.
Memories for sure.
It was opening morning and I was just leaning against a tree. I could see him walking towards me but I remember he didn't have a big rack. When he got close, I realized he was a BIG/OLD buck and killed him.
My brother heard me shoot and came over. I had one of those huge video cameras that were held on the shoulder.VHSi think.
He was filming me doing the gutting when I heard him whisper, look behind you. I did and there was a young buck standing watching us.
Didn't even spook.
Memory lane for sure.

That’s pretty neat! I got that same exact shell in a box somewhere from the first deer I ever shot a big old swamp doe. Back then Wisconsin was a shotgun only state. I didn’t switch to a rifle until about three years ago , even though they’ve been legal here for much longer than that.

I Haven’t shot at a deer farther than 50yards since switching to the “long range” rifle - lol .

Do still have the rack from that buck? Might be a neat thing to attach somehow...

No, I don't have the rack.
It was maybe 15" wide and a 3x3 but had real good mass. Guessing he was in the 210_220# dressed .

My first buck was the same, an OLD deer that dressed 210 as I recall but only was a tall, wide fork. He had already peaked years before.

I shot my first buck second year hunting shooting those in my 20ga. I still have the rack for that little buck and still have couple of live loads in drawer on my loading bench. Those shells shot like a rifle in my old 20.
