I’ve never taken my four coils off. Did you try it with multiple traps or just one? Maybe the springs got hot and re tempered?

Im not having pan tension issues. Im talking spring strength issues. They are weak 2 coiled. Just need to know if that is the norm with these traps. Love the design but i need to know what to expect before putting in an order.

The pan tension on the dozen four coil I got a while back where at least five pounds. The Sullivan pan tester was pressed all the way down and the traps wouldn’t fire. I placed bow wax on them as suggested and took off one coil to make them 3 coil. They now fire at about 3.5 pounds. No need to do anything special, loosen the pan a bit and use a kids coloring crayon on the contact points. No fancy bow wax needed.

Its all about lockup most traps rely on spring strength to hold the animal . I rely on lockup. I seen wolves in pictures multiple times with tge 2 coil version. You got to get out of your head that traps need to be strong to hold animals its all about lockup all springs need to do is shut the traps end of story after that. But like I said this is normal they seem weak but the jr 2 coil trap has the same holding power as my 4 co Xtreme trap. LOCKUP!!!!! KENDALL

I ran his beaver extreme 2 coiled and they wore the beavers out. Much easier to set and held all of the beavers great.
