If it passes the smell test it’s good. Same for butter and most everything else.

I keep it in the refrigerator for over a year with no problems. I see it on sale , and figure a pound per month and buy 12 pounds . I don't always go through a pound a month . Have to watch how long you leave it out on the counter though .

Itll.last in the freezer for about ever but it will get a strong taste to it.
Mom had it mold in her fridge before.
It never lasts long enough to mold at my house.. (I have some blue Bonnet in the freezer now that a friend who runs a store gave me because it went out of date. I've been using on it for a while now and it's still good.)

I watched an interesting you tube video not long ago of a woman pressure canning butter. She said she got over three years storage out of it on a shelf. She canned regular walmart butter. It was pretty interesting. There's others that can purified butter , ghee I think they call it . Canning is making a come back .

Blue Bonnet is a margarine isn't it ? I keep my regular 4 sticks per pound butter in the container it came in, over a year with no problem .

Butter will last indefinitely in a freezer. It is a very stable product that rarely truly goes bad. If it is bad you should be able to clearly see that it is no good. Nailed it. We have bought 30 lbs at a time when it is on sale. Lasts forever in the freezer.

Butter in the freezer, forever.
Margarine anywhere on the planet, if it is within 100 years of the date, it is no good toss it in the toxic waste facility. Well said.

Margarine may taste ok but ain’t much different than eating plastic, so I’m told. Margarine was invented by Napolean during is campaign east. At the time, bread and butter was a staple but they could provide their troops with enough butter so they created a emulsified vegetable oil that looked like butter and had sufficient calories to keep the soldiers marching.

I probably eat more butter than I eat cheese. The only time I've had butter turn was when I was a kid and we would leave it out to keep it soft.
Depending on where you are, try to find some under the table unpasteurized/real butter. HA the good old days. Getting hard to find fresh milk any more . Growing up there were dairy cows and farms everywhere . Now it's hard to find one, unless it's a huge operation .
