Ok gang,,, what’s the best ray lure I can get my hands on?? Is there an ldc of sorts for rats?? I know there’s more buggars in this pond,,, I did get some to work a pvc elbow pipe set,,, and get caught,,, but after those 3… nothing. I know theres got to be more because of the amount of damage done.

I'm no big numbers guy, but I have known a few and none of them use lure for rats to any large degree and neither do I. I find (particularly in Spring) that lure is just going to add up to a pile of coons that aren't worth a plugged nickel. Blind sets on sign are the biggest producers for me by far outside of colony traps in runs (not sure what's legal in your state)
Just happy to be here.

When we did have muskrats the best muskrat lure I found was Lennons muskrat super all call. Good stuff.

Lure won't hurt your rat catch. Lenons rat all call works well. So does Hudson seal. Poplar bud oil Is another good lure. If you don't have to worry about beaver use some castor or some sac oil.
You find one rat toilet and you set ONE trap and You catch One rat. The beav sets 4 traps around that toilet using a good rat lure and catches more then ONE rat. Same with feed beds or when setting on the hut. I know my system will take more rats then the One trap on location trapper.

I make my own out of Fairly common ingredients bought at Trapper Supply. But be sure you still have rats in the pond as Predators such as owls Eagles Hawks and various other Critters could have eliminated quite a few rats make sure there is fresh sign

Many years ago, the muskrat lures that Carmen made were awesome. Have not used them in a long time.

Long ago when there were many rats around, I did very well using Hawbakers muskrat lure on feed bed sets. It worked great on their feed beds and when I would make one. On shore or on the edge of a house.

Another vote for Lenon's. I like the consistency-stays working for a few days.

Lenon's is the only one I have had luck with and I've tried a bunch of them.

Used to float trap a few rats every spring for a couple weeks.. Used a small piece of fresh rat castor and pound it into the float with a hammer.

Russ Carman’s Hudson Seal- I have caught a pile of rats on that lure, so many I have never been tempted to try anything else.
GUK.....it's the sound they make when they hit the end of the cable
