No regrets with a Leupold. I have not considered any other brand for about 40 years. Like a guy said very well above - no details because it would sound like bragging.

My wife bought me a savage bolt action topped with a Cabela's caliper specific 3x9. I killed 18 coyotes out of my feeding tractor this winter with it. It rode around behind the seat all winter and bounced and banged around and still shoots. They will reach out farther than folks think. No bang flops unless you hit them in the spine. I spined one at 300 and piled it up. They get pretty acrobatic when you run that little pill in them.
I can't believe that cop put me in the back seat when I clearly called shotgun.

[quote=MnMan]After reading this, I was reminded of the great deal I got on a Leupold Vari X III, 3.5-10 X at an estate sale a couple years ago. When I picked it up and saw the $125.00 price tag on it, I could not let it go. I had to buy a new rifle to put it on then, so it wound up costing me a little more money once I bought the Ruger Model 77 in .17 Winchester Super Mag. [/quote Great find on the scope and nice rifle choice. I have it’s twin sister tho the little Savage I bought first in that caliber gets lugged/tossed around doing the heavy duty. Some rifles are just to pretty for what I put them thru. Osky

MnMan and Osky - that is one of the few guns remaining that I would like to buy. It is a very interesting cartridge and the rifle looks like Ruger used their nicest materials. Have you experienced any troubles as complained of early on?

Nice gun nessy.... I looked at them cz’s but couldn’t pay that for one the way mine will be hauled an tossed around. Went with a stevens synthetic with a heavy barrel And my friend the gunsmith…bedded the barrel too…taking all the measures for accuracy….now I have to do my part.

Vortex Crossfire 2-7x32 on my Savage A17. I used the medium high mounts.
I shot at a coyote the other day. About 140-150 yards. I sure I hit it. Watched it grab at it shoulder. I check and couldn't find it.
I have the Savage bolt. Poorest magazine as any made. Not a solid locking in. It shoots ok. Just jams rounds at times.

Have you experienced any troubles as complained of early on? No complaints here, but I have looked at it more than I have shot it. I did call in one fox and shot it with the Ruger. I got such a good deal on that scope that I had to buy an interesting gun to put it on. I think Osky has shot his more.
