From a drought to a flood with 4 Colorado lows dumping a little water. Winnipeg has a floodway spilling the water around it. https://youtu.be/FfKm7bs_Fnk

North of the divide here is the same way on a lesser scale. Our Seaplane Base flooded out and is underwater. Last year we had a record drought. Time for me to retire.
I have nothing clever to put here.

There is a divide behind the place, water is going hard both to the Mississippi and to Winnipeg.

North of the divide here is the same way on a lesser scale. Our Seaplane Base flooded out and is underwater. Last year we had a record drought. Time for me to retire. I think 49er flushed the toilet twice at his place. To give us all this water. The discharge for the Winnipeg river is past 110,000 cu ft sec flood stage was at 9o,000 cu ft/sec. 4 Colarado lows and we have another one hitting us now They went from homesteading in 1880 to 1948 till the first flood, and in my lifetime it is past counting on my fingers how many there has been. Last Fridays strong winds took out 10-15 feet of dyke with wave action on the Morris dyke on the south side. One enterprising fisherman fished where the towns discharge pumps were going and ended up catching 8 Master Angler Catfish ( over 35 inches). Our fishing regs we have to release them for those concerned he kept them.

Run to answer that question would take many a beer around a camp fire and have no political interference. Historically in 1826 was the big one. Then our farm was homesteaded in 1880 and it went to 1948 then 50 and spanned to 1979 but since 1997 when Grand Forks ND was hit hard, it seems more often than not. This is right after a 2 year drought and the crux was 4 and now 5 Colorado low pressure systems dumping moisture. It is in the bottom of Glacial Lake Agassiz when there was 120 feet of water only 5- 8000 years bp. Back after the 1950 flood the political will was to build a big ditch around Winnipeg ( pop of 700K) which has saved it numerous times since completion in 1967 Thank you.

How often does the red river flood like this? Mother nature never allowed it to flood like it is doing. It all started in 1997 when Fargo and Grand Forks flooded. The dikes were put up and every farmer dug drainage ditches to get rid of the water. Every farmer from Lake Travererse all the way up the river to Canada drained there land With the land up in Canada lower they are feeling the pressure of all the water. If every farmer that dug ditches would have to seal them up there would be very little flooding.

GPS is a major cause and those started by 1994, now every farmer has one. But the weather pattern was set up this fall for wet weather El Nina does not seem to let up 5 years down the road there is going to be a great walleye fishery on Lake Winnipeg with this water flow That’s quite the prediction since Lake Winnipeg is already well known for its great walleye fishery.
