Talked to a friend yesterday about this very topic. He said he has been going to Lake Namakan in Voyageurs National Park for over 20 years for the best smallmouth fishing in the world. I find it amusing when people say things like that. I have fished Namakan quite a bit and it wouldn't be in the top 100 smallmouth fisheries, for size or numbers, but he likes it there so it's the best for him. If he tried some other places he would realize it's not really that great but I don't blame him for going back over and over, it's a beautiful place with enough fish to keep you happy. Shame on you for confusing people with facts Bernie. I already provided the State by State records,,,but some folks refuse to see.( BUT<<<<BUT<<<MY friends brothers sisters husband said he cought a realy big one over there.

It would be hard to beat the Chamequan Bay, Lake Superior for numbers of large fish. South Lake on the BWCA, for sheer numbers, literally a smallie on every cast, every day. Chequamegon Bay, Washburn and Ashland, WI

Sorry Marty B I missed the in the US part. Up here I would still go with Mille Lacs. It is however big open water and you can get blown off easily. Those lakes out east I’ve heard of often, must be terrific there as well.

Lake St Clair, this time of year.
100 plus bites per day. Lots of fish in the 4-5 pound range with some 6 plus. This is very true. My father caught a 21 3/4 that weighed 7.4 lbs Last year I know of two fish over 9lbs that were caught.
Think beyond right or left don't be guilty of group think.

In the water lol
They just set a new catch and release record in northern Idaho. 23.5 inches long, they didn't weigh it. Looks like a tank in the pictures.
