For skunk traps.? Are they shy with smaller tube size such as 6 inch..? Any advantages to larger vs smaller tube size? Never targeted them before...actually, tried to avoid them if I could. However, they were grubbing my yard pretty hard last summer and have returned this spring. I limed my yard heavy last fall but it takes a while for that to help. I relocated a few last fall, but not enough of them..

I've had better luck with 8" but that's not saying my 6" tunes don't work.

In my dealings with them in irrigation pipes, 6" or 8" is fine -- no noticed preferences. They won't do 4" and only the young ones will do 5" --- 10 inch is a sometimes - but 6 -8 is the preferred size. They also seem to prefer the 6- 8" road culverts ( to reside in) . If in doubt watch your cat -- behaviors are very similar -- skunks will go where cats won't (dimensionally) but I have yet to see a skunk in my barn rafters.

You are going to get an attitude adjustment if you think they need to raise their tail. Please show the valve that tail raising works on

If it can't see you it doesn't matter. Theoretically you can catch them in a 36" tube and they won't spray as long as they don't have a target.

A skunk does not have to raise it's tail to spray.

Thank you all for clearing that up. Always went out of my way to avoid catching them. And when I did, I was never close enough that they got a chance to spray me. I may consider some limited adc work in the future, now that I got plenty of time, so learning all I can about cage trapping.
