Most Insurance Co.'s only cover $2,500 worth of firearms. With out a rider policy but they are very pricey.

The agent was surprised too, and said that’s something they should update and improve. My 300 Weatherby M V alone is worth much more . Flame maple like the Aurora from forestock to rear. Just as the above comments, the added rider is spendy.

I have my firearms insured with a separate policy from State Farm. Had to list all the make, model, caliber, gauge and what I paid for each one. They charge so much per $1,000 worth of replacement cost. Told me if I had any that were individually worth more than $3500 they would have to be appraised by a firearms appraiser with pictures and documentation. I refuse to do this. I spent the money on large, fire proof safes and strong locks.
I have nothing clever to put here.

most of those safes are fire proofed with dry wall. it will still get hot inside. ruin springs and anything else tempered.

A friend of mine down at Rockport flooded and the nicest safes money can buy were not water proof. He lost around 75 or 80 long guns.
We have 2 choices. We can pay to have a policy that will cover such things or we can self insure. Life is full of choices...

if your worried the feds will know what you have, dont. if they decide to confiscate they already know who the gun owners are. if your plan is to hide them i am curious to know why.

My rider add on wasn't very much at all, and it's a good idea to lay out each firearm you own and take a bunch of pics, and record serial #'s with it. FWIW: I keep the bolt's etc separate from the firearms so they have little to no value to a thief. Also makes it easier for the cops and the maker notified of the theft to notice somebody shopping around for the bolts/parts to a stolen firearm.
