In North Carolina a body grip trap that is not completely submerged can't have an inside measurement larger than 7 1/2". The RBG 220 is 7" and the 330 is 10".

Does anyone out there use the RGB round 220 for otter? Is it of sufficient size and power to use as an otter trap that is on dry land or not completely submerged? Or is that 7" hole just too small for an otter to even enter the trap?

What configuration do you use for your triggers? The standard "V" or other?

7" works fine for otter, standard V shape on the wires works good for me.

I use the 280's for otters here in Indiana, they are 8" and legal on dry land. We are limited to 7.5" when using a square body grip on dry ground. I set the trigger on the bottom in a V.

Flipper 56, thank you for the reply. Unfortunately in North Carolina the round 280 cannot be used unless it's completely submerged in water. That eliminates using them on a dam crossover or on a otter trail between two bodies of water.

Thanks Coon Duke. I am familiar with the Duke 220 and use them. I am asking about the round RBG traps.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you were looking for options that didn’t need to be submerged.

Coon Duke, No problem. I just want to have a change up from square shape to round shape so a family of otters doesn't get shy of going through a square hole. Want to put square on a crossover or trail and when an otter gets into it be able to pull the square and put a round in the same vicinity an not have square educated otter.

Much more likely to become location shy rather than trap shape shy. Set enough traps to take them out one pass through.

Might have to pick up a few TBG's (Trapezoidal Body Grips),once they get scared of square and round ones.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
